Amazing Women
Updated: 2 hours ago

Two women. I met one of them last week in my music room, and the other I discovered through social media.
On my voice studio couch, the first woman, “Redeemed Podcast” host, Lauren Burns, and I spent significant time sharing likeminded visions of what our individual books of hope could offer the world: mine, a personal journey focused on families, caregivers and persons with disabilities; and hers, a traumatic story of a life well-lived through suffering and hope. Both of us were surprised and challenged by our combined joy in supporting others through our forthcoming books. I can hardly wait to see our books one day line the shelves of brick-and-mortar stores as well as available for purchase online. For me, that joyous day will be the fruit of this conversation and other focused discussions!
The second woman, Alliance of Moms co-founder, Kelly McKee Zajfen, came across my social media feed as Embolden Media Group applauded their author representation of her and the news of her featured appearance on Netflix’s “With Love, Meghan” show (Episode 5). Honestly, I had only heard about this show, but not yet watched it nor read any reviews.
Wow!! I loved watching all the available episodes with my daughter as we learned, laughed and connected with the guests Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, invited to chat. When I took some time to read about Kelly’s journey prior to watching the show, I was deeply moved to learn that Kelly is a mom of girl-boy twins who lost her son, like me. She openly shares the heartache of loss and grief through her vast social media platform. Kelly’s life is a beautiful medley of serene peace, love, and unexpected tragedy.
As I reflected on the welcomed entrance of these two women into my heart during this Women’s History Month, I realized sometimes the women all around us are making history by sharing their daily lives and history in our living rooms and on our screens. To say that I recognize that fact in most moments would not be truthful. It is generally after meeting or observing an incredible woman that I step back and recognize her significance in the world. Never have I counted myself among these greats, but most often I seek to walk behind them, carrying my dimly lit torch and singing my life’s song.
How about you? Do you value the women who have made a difference in history as well as the ones closest to you doing the same? Today, I hope you will take the time to praise and applaud the women you see doing the hard, good things. They need to hear your voice affirming them face-to-face and shouted out on social media platforms. We all know a few women who meet this high bar. Let’s give them their bouquets today.
This race is not just for the runners
Some of us walk while others barely crawl
We make our way through spring and winter
Leaning on the strength that strengthens all
And when the sunlight fades to morning
You'll still be burning in my eyes
Happy Women’s History Month!
With gratitude,
Juli

Take My Life
Who can say when life is over
The silver cord breaks and our breath returns to God
Will we walk through fields of clover
Or soar up high through valleys deep and wide
I cannot know all that's waiting there
But until that day this is my prayer
Ho yes
Take my lifeTake away all the shattered dreams in me
And give me love that will last forever
Take my life
Give me the love that makes me free
'Cause I believe that Your love can save even a wretch like me
This race is not just for the runners
Some of us walk while others barely crawl, hey
We make our way through spring and winter
Leaning on the strength that strengthens all, oh
And when the sunlight fades to morning
You'll still be burning in my eyes
Ho yes
Take my life
Take away all the shattered dreams in me
Give me love that will last forever
Take my life
Give me the love that makes me free
'Cause I believe that Your love can save even a wretch like me
Ho yeah
Ho yeah
And when the sunlight fades to morning, oh
You'll still be burning in my eyes
Oh yes
Take my life
Take away all the shattered dreams in me
And give me love that will last forever
Take my life
Give me the love that makes me free
'Cause I believe that Your love can save even a wretch like me
